Store of the Week
March 20, 2000

by Lisa Marie Rovito

There's no sign outside this Upper East Side brownstone, but buzz 2A and follow Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" up the stairs. Inside the pale periwinkle-walled "library," you'll be greeted by Archie, the resident cavalier king spaniel, who's been basking in the sunlight, waiting for you. Tiny tableclothed tables may remind you that it's time for a nice high tea. But don't be distracted! No tea for you: You're here on business.

And the library's mastermind, Claudia Hanlin, won't let you forget that. Grab your mom, your maid or your man and make an appointment for her personal attention and professional advice (get this: it's free!) on choosing just about everything you'll need for the big day. Select suppliers -- from cake designers to calligraphers -- chosen for their style, uniqueness, experience and reputations have been invited to house their portfolios here, so with one quick glance you can find the flowers, photographers, bands -- even the dress! -- to make your wedding wonderful.

No detail is too small to ignore on your big day, so don't leave without perusing favors, accessories and invites, all of which can be custom-ordered right on the spot. Who said planning a wedding was stressful? In less than two hours, you can get a wish-list of wedding vendors to call in the morning, a mini crystal tiara and some ultra-modern invites so friends and family can come witness the smashing results of all your fabulous planning. You're all done, Archie's asleep curled up on a chair and you've still got time to indulge in that cup of tea.
